20 000 BOOKS / 2nd semester 2024
/ studio led by Ing. arch. Nicol Gale, MgA. Svatopluk Sládeček

The assignment was to design a house for a family of four, including a publisher, with a library capable of holding 20,000 books.
My design is based on the concept of a rolling sphere, symbolizing infinity and knowledge. The sphere, which appeared to roll down the slope, was “stopped” by a house of contrasting shapes, where it became the dominant element. The sphere dominates both the exterior and interior. From the entrance on the southern side, it is the only visible feature, so it does not block the view of the village from the hill, while on the northern side, it contrasts with the shapes of the house.
Sphere also integrates into the interior: on the first floor, where the living room, kitchen, and bathroom are located, and on the second floor in a room with an indoor pool. Skylights placed in these spaces provide views of the sphere merging with the sky.
